Sustainability

Sports organization Le Champion, organizer of the NN Dam tot Damloop, wants to contribute to a healthy and active society and a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages, by inspiring and enthusing them to sport and exercise. This objective also directly contributes to the promotion of sustainability. Furthermore, we strive to organize the events as sustainable as possible and to use them for good causes. On this page you will find more information about sustainability during the Damloop by night and NN Dam tot Damloop.

By increasing sustainability during the event we increase the positive and minimize the negative impact of our own business operations. Le Champion aims to make every event sustainable and also expects this of its partners.

Sustainability actions during the event

Raw materials/waste
  • Many participants and spectators are present during the NN Dam tot Damloop. In order to get them to separate (litter) as well as possible, the waste bins will be clearly marked. A Le Champion Green Team will also be present. They will ensure that (litter) is cleaned up and collected separately. All suppliers involved will be informed of these interests in advance.
  • ECO Toilet only uses environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  • All urine is collected and transported to Waternet, which extracts valuable nutrients from it.
  • The participant booklet has been replaced by the Le Champion app.
  • No flyers may be handed out.
  • The flyers will no longer be sent along in the starter pack, but are included in a digital Qoodybag.
  • The event shirts will not be packaged individually.
  • Plastic straws are prohibited during the event.
  • Litter prevention by the use of 'can' catchers.
Mobility
  • Participants and supporters are encouraged to travel by bicycle or public transportation as much as possible.
  • We work as much as possible with local suppliers to limit the number of travel movements.
  • The logistical operation of the event is carefully planned so that only the necessary travel movements take place.
  • Group transportation is offered.
Energy
  • Refreshment points and catering points will be set up as much as possible in places where fixed power and water points can be used. If no fixed power point is available, a mobile battery or a renewable and fossil-free fuel will be used.
  • If lighting is required, LED lighting will be used as much as possible.
Foods and Drinks
  • The available stock products will first be used up as much as possible before purchasing. If there are any products left over after the event, they will be donated to, for example, the Food Bank or the fruit to a zoo.
